Access an MSI Unix server

How do I access an MSI Unix server from my Mac?

If you are using a Mac and you wish to use graphical software remotely, open the X11 terminal program (not Terminal.app) and ssh to your preferred MSI machine with the following command, replacing username with your MSI username and resourcename with your desired MSI resource (mesabi, mangi, etc):

ssh -Y username@resourcename.msi.umn.edu

X11/Terminal on Mac provides a solid starting point for simple and lightweight graphical applications, but it struggles with many of the modern graphics-intensive GUIs that are available with some of the software packages MSI supports. The NICE server/client system provides a faster graphical connection to MSI systems.
