Our UMN partners
MSI partners and collaborates with units across campus, providing dedicated support for researchers across disciplines. See the pages below to learn more about each of our partnerships.
Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain
MSI partners with experts in pediatric medicine and research at the Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain (MIDB) to diagnose, prevent and treat neurodevelopmental disorders in early childhood and adolescence. MSI Informatics staff provide computational environments, workflows and analysis for research. A recent project was featured on the MSI website: A New Computational Method for Improving Brain-Behavior Correlation Associations.
Department of Lab Medicine & Pathology
MSI works with researchers and clinicians in Lab Medicine & Pathology on a broad variety of projects that impact human health, including cancer, immunology, neurology, and infectious disease. This includes clinical genetic testing for inherited and acquired diseases and single-cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics, breaking new ground by exploring novel methods and tools.
GEMS
MSI provides computing resources and expertise to GEMS Informatics, a joint initiative led by the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences and Research Computing, MSI's parent organization. GEMS Informatics produces and enables the creation of research-ready scientific data, and turns that data into actionable information for farmers, scientists, governments, or companies. More information on the GEMS platform can be found here. Recent work was featured on the MSI website: Improving Data-Analysis Capabilities for Wheat Breeders.
MSI also has partnerships with the following departments, including at least one MSI consultant dedicated to their research projects:
Department of Agronomy & Plant Genetics
Department of Microbiology & Immunobiology
Department of Surgery
Institute for Translational Neuroscience and the Department of Neuroscience
MSI also supports external engagements, such as CFANS's work with PepsiCo.
