MSI PI Matthew Clark (associate professor, Horticultural Science), who has taken over the University of Minnesota’s fruit-breeding program, is featured on the website of the University of Minnesota Foundation. Professor Clark specializes in developing grape varieties that can grow in Minnesota’s cold climate, and he uses MSI software resources for genetics and genomics studies included in this research. The story can be found on the U of M Foundation website: Fantastic Fruit.
Professor Clark takes over from Professor James Luby (Horticultural Science), who is also an MSI PI. Professor Luby retired after over 40 years at the U’s Horticultural Research Center earlier this fall.
