Quantum Computing
MSI is facilitating faculty access to a Quantinuum quantum computer, enabling researchers at the University of Minnesota to explore groundbreaking quantum algorithms and applications. This initiative strengthens Minnesota’s role in high-tech research and next-generation computing.
One of the faculty making use of this resource is MSI PI Professor Alex Kamenev, (School of Physics and Astronomy), who is leveraging Quantinuum’s quantum hardware to study new algorithms for spin glass models. Spin glass is a disordered magnetic state and an important problem in statistical physics and optimization.
By connecting our faculty to state-of-the-art quantum computing resources, MSI positions them at the leading edge of computational innovation. Locally, Quantinuum is pioneering groundbreaking quantum computers right here in the Twin Cities.
