UMN Spatialomics Initiative
posted June 18, 2025
Spatialomic analysis is a cross-disciplinary field that requires histology, imaging, genomics/proteomics, and spatially aware bioinformatics/biostatistics expertise. This diverse set of expertise and tools is distributed across departments and centers at the University of Minnesota, making it difficult for researchers to find necessary resources and collaborators.
University units that provide support for the various aspects of spatial research have worked together to establish the University of Minnesota Spatialomics Initiative, as a coordinated effort to bring together the different elements of spatialomics in a single virtual location. The Initiative website holds resources at the level of genomics and proteomics.
The Initiative is a collaboration between the University Imaging Centers (UIC), the U of M Genomics Center (UMGC), MSI, and the Clinical and Translational Science Institute Histology and Digital Imaging Laboratory. Researchers new to spatialomics or interested in switching to a new spatial technology are requested to complete a project intake form that provides Initiative staff with essential information about the project, research goals, and technical needs.
