High Performance Computing User Badge
The High Performance Computing (HPC) User Badge is evidence that you have learned the necessary skills to make use of the HPC resources at the Minnesota Supercomputing Institute. The Minnesota Supercomputing Institute provides advanced research computing infrastructure to the UMN’s research and scholarly community with the goal to advance research, accelerate progress, and promote innovation and discoveries through cutting-edge technologies, scientific computing, informatics and application development.
Participants will learn how to:
- Connect to remote cyberinfrastructure resources
- Schedule compute jobs on shared resources
- Get started with a command line interface (CLI)
Earning the HPC User Badge
Step 1: Complete two of any of the three course options below to earn the HPC User Badge:
- MSI X102 - Introduction to Linux
- MSI X103 - Job Submission and Scheduling
- MSI X105 - Interactive Computing at MSI
Register for MSI X102 - Introduction to Linux
Register for MSI X103 - Job Submission and Scheduling
Register for MSI X105 - Interactive Computing at MSI
Step 2: After you have completed two out of the three courses, create a one-page report, poster, or document describing how MSI and HPC resources can be used in your research. Register for MSI X999 and submit your report, poster, or document in the marketing question upon registration.
Step 3: You will be contacted by email with the results of your badge assessment.
