Software Description

ANSYS is a general-purpose finite-element program for engineering analysis, and includes preprocessing, solution, and postprocessing functions. ANSYS is used in a wide range of disciplines for solutions to mechanical, thermal, and electronic problems. There are versions of ANSYS software for both UNIX-based and Windows operating systems.

Citrix

  1. Request access to Citrix at https://www.msi.umn.edu/citrixrequest
  2. Connect to https://apps.umn.edu
  3. Click on Desktops > MSI Ansys to launch the desktop.
  4. Launch ANSYS from: Start Menu > All Programs > ANSYS$Version > ANSYS$Version

\$Version is the version number of that ANSYS installation.

Licensing Info

You may need to select a license to use when you first start Ansys. To do so, open the \"License Preferences\" menu (under the Tools pull-down) and select \"Use Academic Licenses\" in the \"Global Settings\" section under the Solver tab. Then click OK and close the workbench.

General Linux

To load this module for use in a Linux environment, you can run the command:

module load ansys

Depending on where you are working, there may be more than one version of ansys available. To see which modules are available for loading you can run:

module avail ansys
